Summary: Assist the instructor in general classroom operations; supervise student work groups, various other related duties assigned by the instructor and/or administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work is performed under the general supervision of administration. An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following (does not include all tasks employee may be expected to perform):

1. Instruction
   1. Under the direction of the instructor, prepares for the delivery of daily instruction by gathering and/or copying materials and checking and/or arranging equipment to be used.
   2. Complements initial instruction given by the instructor to the students by helping students who may be having difficulty understanding of keeping up with the presentation made.
   3. Supplements initial instruction given by the instructor to the students by working with individuals or small groups on follow-up activities specified by the instructor.
   4. Repeats initial instruction that was given by the instructor to students for that were absent for the original presentation.
   5. Assists instructor in preparation of daily instructional activities, sets up classroom and prepares materials for specialized instructional units.
   6. Always maintains high quality childcare standards based on developmentally appropriate practices.
2. Management and Supervision
   1. Oversee student groups or individuals in both classroom and outdoor settings.
   2. Intermittently substitutes for Instructor
   3. Maintains and enforces Career Center and program standards of behavior. Able to refer violators of classroom behavior to the instructor. Able to refer violators of Career Center behavior standards to appropriate administrators for discipline.
   4. Confer with instructor on program goals, needs and instructional strategies for students
   5. Oversee preschool room arrangement.
   6. Supervise high school students in the preschool setting as scheduled with Careers in Education Instructor
   7. Promote parent participation and involvement in educational activities provided for their children
   8. Meet regularly with Careers in Education advisory committee
   9. Comprehensive knowledge and proven success in implementing programs for children based on developmentally appropriate practices.
3. Record Keeping
   1. Records grades in record books and/or other instructor developed record keeping systems.
   2. Records student daily attendance.
   3. Confers with instructor on observed student skills and activities in completing competency profiles.
   4. Confers with instructor on supplies and equipment to be ordered for their program.
   5. Prepares handouts and teaching materials and inventory copies.
4. Safety
   1. Reports accidents, unsafe conditions, or hazards to instructor and/or administrator.
   2. Follows established safety practices and procedures to ensure a safe classroom environment.
5. Maintenance and Repair
   1. Performs day-to-day housekeeping and minor repairs of equipment.
   2. Aids instructor in major overhaul of machinery and equipment.
6. Equipment and supply inventory
   1. Works with instructor in completing inventory.
7. Assumes role of instructor when required as directed.
8. Attends open house, participates in conferences, and participates in other school sponsored activities, as required.
9. Regular and predictable in-person attendance is required for this position.
10. Various other related duties.
