Medical Assistant

We are the Behavioral Health Community organization responsible for the delivery of mental health, substance abuse treatment coordination, and developmental disabilities services for Kent County. We need individuals who are passionate about making a difference by helping others.
We are seeking a Medical Assistant responsible for direct service to clients in the clinical outpatient setting of our Psychiatric Services Department. Network180’s Psychiatric Services Clinics serve both adults and children with mental illness, substance use disorder, and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. This multidisciplinary team-based model can include psychiatrists, registered nurses, medical assistants, case managers, social workers, outpatient therapists, and peer support.
This position is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. There are no weekends, on call, or holiday requirements for this position. This assignment is in person at 790 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Medical Assistant certificate program from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Current valid CPR certification, or obtain within 6 months of hire
- Education or training in the basics of medical terminology
- Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management and e-mail
- Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and skills and capabilities of bridging language/cultural barriers to Network180 services within diverse communities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CMA certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants or the RMA certification through American Medical Technologists preferred
- Strong understanding of services for psychiatric and substance disordered consumers, and a strong recovery philosophy, preferred
- One year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting, preferred
- Experience working with an Electronic Health Record, preferred
