Job Summary:
Directs all facets of operations of Registrar’s Office including student registration and records, veteran and international student compliance and reporting, central phone system/switchboard, and FERPA compliance; shared responsibility for One Stop student services. Plans and develops strategies for maintenance and upgrade of related systems and processes.
Essential Functions:
1. Management and Leadership · Directs daily operations of Records & Registration Department, One Stop, and International/Veteran Student Services office. · Supervises, hires, trains and develops unit staff. · Establishes and implements short- and long-term department goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. · Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; effects changes for improvement. · Develops and manages departmental and graduation budgets. · Ensures accuracy, integrity, security, and compliance of student data. 2. Compliance, Regulatory, and Policy · Recommends, develops, and implements college policies and procedures related to areas of responsibility. · Serves on planning and policy-making committees. · Serves as FERPA compliance officer. Responds to requests (FOIA , subpoenas) for student information. · Interprets and enforces policies and state/federal regulations and laws as they apply to student records and information. · Participates in HLC accreditation processes. Responsible for HLC federal compliance requirements. · Creates, maintains, and publishes academic calendar. 3. Systems and Technology · Serves as owner of SIS (Banner) student module; responsible for ensuring timely upgrades, testing, and implementation of new system functionality. Responsible for legacy student information systems (AS400, Phoenix). · Serves as system owner for Degree Works. Programs and maintains degree audit and academic planning tools using system-coding language; ensures program requirements for graduation certification/degree conferral are accurate and up to date in accordance with curriculum approval process. · Responsible for term setup each semester; builds and maintains tuition/fee tables. · Manages archival of electronic and hard copy student records. 4. Committees and Partnerships · Serves as point of contact for MiTransfer Pathways initiatives; responsible for facilitating agreements and ensuring all transfer information is current on website. · Serves as a point of contact for facilitation and implementation of consortium agreements and other external partnerships. · Maintains and updates articulation agreements with four-year partners; facilitates development and approval of agreements as needed. · Chairs Commencement Committee; responsible for annual Commencement Ceremony. · Administers tuition appeal and assurance of academic quality policy appeal processes. · Serves on committees related to curriculum approval, policy development, data security/integrity, institutional accreditation, and technology approval/implementation.

Bachelor’s degree required. 3-5 years management/supervisory experience required. Demonstrated experience in customer service with a positive, professional, optimistic demeanor. High level of confidentiality and data security. Excellent organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact effectively and professionally with internal and external customers. Additional Desirable Qualifications: Experience in a higher education setting and a student information system. Knowledge of FERPA and data security best practices. Positions at Lake Michigan College require regular and predicable on-site attendance as an essential job function. Under certain circumstances, College may consider alternative work arrangements in compliance with the Flexible Scheduling and Remote Work Options policy.

Salary Range: $79,768
