Job Summary: This position will be utilized to assist in the following areas: supporting academic achievement, developing student self-efficacy to overcome obstacles to learning, SST (Student Support Team) member, tutoring and peer intervention, run a behavior modification/reflection space, and student attendance. This individual will have their own classroom to assist with students and provide a safe space for students to reflect, learn, and grow. Specifically, we are looking at students in our middle 60% that need more support to promote growth and identify their purpose.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identification of students in need of additional academic support via SST, weekly team meeting.

- Keep a log of student interactions and share that weekly at SST meetings.
- Meet regularly with students to develop pathways to success including clarifying student goals/purpose.
- Assist students in understanding and learning time management and organizational skills.
- Organize schedule student peer to peer tutoring via our National Honor Society.
- Assist in monitoring student tardies and absences and utilize PBIS processes to assist in impacting attendance in a positive manner.
- Provide an organized behavior management space where students are able to reflect on behavior and engage in self-reflection and possible restorative practices (Responsibility Room).
- Connect with students that need positive adult role models.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- The equivalent of 2 years of college (60 semester credits) or an Associate’s degree or higher OR the successful completion of the MDE approved Paraprofessional standards test (ETS).
- Experience working with children.
- Demonstrated abilities in the area of interpersonal communication.
- A high degree of patience, ability and willingness to learn new skills and take direction.
