Part-time (2:00 pm - 6:00 pm)
HealthSource Saginaw (HSS) is recruiting for a part-time (20 hour per week, Monday through Friday) Infection Control/Employee Health (IC/EH) Nurse to work beside two full-time IC/EH Nurses to support the department.

REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN is preferred, but not required.
- Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Three to five years of experience as a registered nurse.
- One year of experience in infection prevention is preferred.
- If not already certified to train CPR through MMR, must be willing to pursue the necessary training within first six (6) months of employment; HSS covers training costs.
- Must complete CDC Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Training Course within 1st year of employment; HSS covers training costs.
- Must complete Coverys Infection Prevention Class within 1st year of employment and as offered; HSS covers training costs.
- Completion of Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) is preferred; HSS covers training costs.
SUMMARY
Performs the full range of infection prevention and employee health services in a healthcare setting including but not limited to:
- Responsible for meeting requirements of all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Apply epidemiologic principles and statistical methods to identify target population, analyze trends and risk factors and design, implement and evaluate prevention and control strategies.
- Conduct on-going surveillance, including rounds of inpatient and outpatient areas, using CDC infection criteria; clinical documentation; investigation of nosocomial infections through review of admission diagnoses, microbiology culture results, isolation orders, patient records, consultation requests, etc. and ensuring compliance with environmental sanitation procedures and infection prevention/control practices.
- Participate in investigations of unusual hospital infection outbreaks utilizing laboratory findings, consultation with Infectious Disease Division, county/state public health departments and when necessary in consultation with the CDC.
- Make recommendations regarding construction, renovation, and environmental rounds to ensure compliance with national and or professional standards.
- Report all in-house patients/residents with communicable disease to the county and/or state health department as required and maintain appropriate records.
- Conduct surveillance rounds in ancillary departments as needed. Report variances to Leadership.
- Maintain a knowledge base of current infection prevention and control information through peer networking, internet access, published literature and professional meetings.
- Assist team in planning, organizing, developing and implementing educational programs for employees/contracted workers, volunteers and LIPs of HSS that convey specialized knowledge and skills to increase employee awareness of existence of nosocomial infections, techniques for avoidance, and preventive measures to provide a safe environment for employees as well as patients/residents.
- Provide first aid treatment for injuries incurred at HSS. Refers more serious injuries to appropriate treatment facility if deemed necessary. Performs follow-up as appropriate.
- Assist in maintaining Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) log related injury and illness.
