Salary: $32.1938 Hourly ($66,963)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) years’ experience in the administration of vehicle fleet and equipment operation.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and irregular hours and in varying weather conditions.

JOB SUMMARY: Develops, implements and evaluates policies and procedures dealing with the assignment, usage, rental and disposal of fleet equipment and vehicles for the County; directs the operations of all county vehicle and equipment repairs; performs related work as required; exercises supervision over a number of employees engaged in fleet administration, maintenance and repair for vehicle and equipment; works under the general supervision of and appointed by the Director of Administration who reviews work for conformance with County policies and objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Plans, organizes and manages the overall functions of the Genesee County Motor Pool.
- Develops and implements protocols and procedures for Motor Pool operations and safety standards.
- Prepares and monitors the budget for Motor Pool administration.
- Oversees budget expenditures, developing and monitoring fiscal and operational Controls.
- Maintains fleet/fuel management software in an effort to monitor costs, inventory of supplies, preventative maintenance timeliness and scheduled inspections.
- Monitors performance measures for vehicles and equipment to provide data for budget management.
- Plans and directs the work of personnel involved in the servicing, repair and preventative maintenance of automobiles, trucks and specialized equipment.
- Consults with representatives of user departments to gain input in proposed purchases.
- Develops timely schedules for the selection and the replacement of equipment for optimum resale value.
- Confers with garage personnel and makes decisions on equipment maintenance and repair problems.
- Prepares purchase requisitions with detailed specifications for vehicles and operating equipment for County fleet purposes.
- Provides reports and data analysis on work orders, cost records, equipment usage, equipment requests, rental agreements and fuel consumption.
- Responsible for on-going security control of vehicles and equipment.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Considerable ability to initiate, plan, develop, coordinate and implement multi-program maintenance activities necessary in the operation of fleet administration and maintenance.
- Ability to analyze and compile technical and statistical information and to prepare technical reports.
- Ability to operate a computer for purposes of process control records, keeping data input and review and format of operational records.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with County officials, employees and contractors.
- Ability to attend work regularly and work under stressful conditions.
