SUMMARY:\n\nThis position focuses on executing strategic initiatives for the Brand operations ensuring operational processes are properly aligned with the strategic goals of the enterprise. This role supervises the various operational functions of the office with direct oversight of support staff. This position will develop business partnerships with the enterprise while leading the development, and integration of corporate initiatives with the operations. This role will oversee a quality improvement process throughout the operations that will develop metrics and best practices with a feedback process to improve outcomes over time. \n\nThis role is also responsible for supporting AF Group with the development and oversight of workers compensation and/or multiline Commercial Markets or Specialty Lines business performance and capabilities. This includes participation in research and development, product implementation, and responsibility for the profit and loss performance, strategy, and administrative functions of field operations. Responsible for leading the strategic, financial performance tracking, internal controls, and administrative functions of Commercial Markets or Specialty Lines. Manages various projects and initiatives from ideation through development, approval, execution, and tracking. Works closely with the management team to develop annual and long-term goals and objectives. \n\nThis role will work collaboratively with the Company/Corporate Strategic Planning. Understands multiple perspectives of corporate business and operational issues and their impact to the Company. Responsible for managing work that involves coordinating day-to-day office operations, communications and timelines. Manages various corporate projects as directed by the President. Assures President preparedness for all meetings, interactions and communications. Review schedules and contacts to assure timeliness and organization.\n\nRESPONSIBLITIES/TASKS:\n\n \n * Manages the day-to-day operations and activities of the administrative and underwriting support staff. Responsible for creating optimized workflows and documenting process as well as auditing performance. Sets priorities and evaluates performance to ensure the best utilization of talent, staff and facilities to maximize efficient performance. \n * Work with executive team to direct strategic planning activities for the operating unit and align requirements of the Commercial Markets or Specialty Lines division. \n * Document and foster the development of new insurance products for the enterprise. Seek and document research, capabilities and market opportunity for expansion of Commercial Markets or Specialty Lines. \n * Monitor and oversee the implementation of strategic/business plans and the attainment of desired objectives and outcomes. \n * Direct the operating company's strategy communications highlighting strategy plans, status and related materials needed for executive and Board of Director level presentations. \n * Provide leadership and/or execute assigned strategic and annual plan items. \n * Analyze business issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions to achieve key results. \n * Ensure the preparedness of the VicePresident, Strategy & Operations by activities such as analyzing information, developing materials and communications, and recommending appropriate action. \n * Work to ensure that projects assigned or delegated to the direct reports of Vice President, Strategy & Operations or Division President are executed and completed. \n * Represent the company and its interests in Commercial Markets or Specialty Lines. Build and foster collaborative relationships with other departments within the enterprise to stay informed and abreast of new initiatives and services of the enterprise. \n * In conjunction with Corporate Communications lead communication efforts including company's strategy communications, employee communications and highlighting strategy plans, status and related materials.\n \n * Oversight in developing department goals, objectives, processes, procedures, and systems. Identify areas for improvement and increased alignment with Enterprise.\n \n * Lead efforts to create vision that links project concepts to feasible solutions to support strategic objectives and achieve organizational learning. \n * Participate in cross-department resource estimates, allocations and prioritization of business initiatives. \n * Lead the quality improvement process. Create and implement improvement opportunities uncovered through metrics and feedback. \n * Participate in the annual departmental budget process, identify cost savings, monitor budget and identify budget discrepancies. Research budget issues and makes appropriate recommendations. \n * Coordinate and research special projects and assignments. \n * Consult with executive sponsors and project leads on the status of initiatives in progress. \n * Lead, make significant contributions, and/or provide leadership to Initiatives to ensure Vice President, Strategy & Operations and Division President's expectations are met and/or intentions are fulfilled.\nResponsibilities/Tasks for Director\n\n \n * In coordination with the Vice President, Strategy & Operations and Division President, builds teams or processes to maximize profitable distribution of new products approved in conjunction with innovation and product development. \n * Present business proposals and financial performance information regarding workers compensation and multi-line operations. \n * Use marketplace relationships to uncover and evaluate new and expanded product opportunities. \n * Ensure underwriting, claims, loss control, and enterprise services are working towards common goals and metrics within systems constraints. \n * Act as liaison and problem solver between interested parties when bringing new products to market and during the product life cycle.\nThis position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position.
