Auxiliary Systems Engineer Sterling Heights, MI Contract Position $55.70-$60.70/Hour Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance. Responsibilities: * Lead the design, analysis, and release of mechanical and fluid subsystems, including hydraulic actuation, pneumatics, automatic fire suppression, fuel, LRU cooling, and camera cleaning for military ground vehicles. * Integrate mechanical components to meet system-level requirements such as human factors, safety, environmental durability, and ballistic protection. * Perform mechanical design tasks involving material selection, welding, fabrication, mounting, stowage, and shock/vibration isolation. * Develop system schematics, functional architecture, and tolerance stack-ups; provide support for design mark-ups and engineering changes. * Coordinate prototype and production builds, write material and shop work requests, track parts, conduct fit checks, and generate reports. * Conduct root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and component-level troubleshooting and redesign. * Present design concepts and program updates to management with a focus on technical risk and mitigation strategies. * Direct CAD model and drawing development using NX or Creo, with data management through Teamcenter and Vis Mockup. * Support testing and validation efforts; interface with internal engineering teams and external customers as required. * Travel up to 20% to support integration and vehicle build activities at military or production facilities. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (Electrical Engineering considered with relevant mechanical system experience). * U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance. * 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, particularly within fluid or distributed systems. * Strong background in functional architecture for fluid systems including schematics, system modeling, and troubleshooting. * Proficient in mechanical engineering fundamentals, materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T. * Hands-on experience supporting prototype or production vehicle builds. * Solid modeling expertise in NX and/or Creo; Teamcenter and Vis Mockup proficiency preferred. * Familiarity with military vehicle design and prior ground combat vehicle experience is a plus. * Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed. * Physically capable of climbing on/off and working in/around military vehicles.
