This is a regular, full-time, tenure-track position. Work schedule: approximately 190 days, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, work hours will fluctuate between 8:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and the schedule is subject to change as determined by the Dean, Student Services. Assignments will be day and evening at various Kellogg Community College campuses.
Position Summary
Kellogg Community College (KCC) is seeking caring applicants who are excellent team members and dedicated to students' holistic development, both academically and personally. Under the general supervision of a dean, KCC Counseling services provide short-term counseling to students from diverse backgrounds.
Counseling services are available to students on an appointment or walk-in basis (as available) in the form of individual or group counseling. Occasionally, the KCC Counseling team may assist with crisis counseling. A variety of topics may be addressed, ranging from stress management, anxiety, effective communication, self-esteem, healthy relationships, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, and other areas related to student well-being and success.
It is essential that KCC counselors develop and maintain relationships with off-campus referral sources to make appropriate referrals based on the unique needs of each student. KCC counseling delivers prevention and outreach programs to students at all KCC locations as well as in a virtual format. The successful candidate will be primarily located on the North Avenue Campus but will provide services at other locations and virtually as needed. Some evening hours may be required.
Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, a community of approximately 54,000 people. Leisure activities, natural resources and learning opportunities provide a foundation for residents. Located along the I-94 interstate, Battle Creek is within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo, 60 minutes of Lansing and Grand Rapids and within three hours of Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis.

Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as independent mobility between work areas, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Licensed master's degree (minimum) in Counseling (LPC or LLPC considered with the expectation of full licensure within three years of hire date), Licensed Master's Social Work (LMSW), or Licensed PhD Psychology (LP). Eligible to practice in the State of Michigan. Attach a copy of current licensure and unofficial transcripts showing degree conferred at the time of application.
• Minimum of three (3) years of licensed professional counseling experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.
• Broad knowledge of human development including but not limited to relationships, substance abuse, and domestic violence.
• Clinical skills related to short-term counseling.
• Strong technology skills including being able to utilize various forms of technology and the ability to learn new software.
Preferred but not Required
• Crisis intervention knowledge and skills.
• Experience working as a licensed professional counselor in a higher education setting.
• Understanding and appreciation of the community college mission.
Proposed Salary
According to the current Kellogg Faculty Association (KFA) contract agreement, commensurate with education and experience. The current contract can be found at: https://kellogg.edu/about/departments/hr/benefits/.

Job Duties
Essential Function: CORE COUNSELING RESPONSIBILITIES
Description:
• Responsible for approximately 25 client contact hours per week, 12 paperwork hours and attendance at scheduled staff meetings.
• Adheres to KCC Counseling department's scope of practice and procedures.
• Maintain confidential and ethically responsible documentation and data collection for all student contacts.
• Provide individual clinical counseling services to a diverse student population. Responsibilities also include initial assessment and individualized goal planning based on the unique, presented needs of each student who engages with KCC Counseling services.
• Refer students to appropriate campus and/or community resources for the purpose of assisting students in goal setting, problem-solving, decision-making, and persistence toward their educational goal attainment.
• Manage assigned Bruins Care reports and other emergent reporting systems to assist students in managing crises and/or other concerns.
• Serve in an advisory capacity to the Threat Assessment and Behavioral Intervention (TABI) team.
