This regular, full-time administrative position will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with evening and weekend hours and at various locations, as needed.
Position Summary
This full-time position will report to the Director of Allied Health Programs and will be responsible to lead the activities of the Dental Hygiene Department and represent the College with employers and community partners to develop and deliver courses and programs that address the needs for a dental hygiene workforce.
Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, a community of approximately 54,000 people. Leisure activities, natural resources and learning opportunities provide a foundation for residents. Located along the I-94 interstate, Battle Creek is within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo, 60 minutes of Lansing and Grand Rapids and within three hours of Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis.

Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and, may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Accredited Dental Hygienist or licensed dentist with educational experience.
• Two (2) years of clinical experience as a dental hygienist or dentist.
Preferred but not Required
• Registered Dental Hygienist and Dental Hygiene License.
Proposed Salary
According to the Kellogg Community College Hay Administrative Compensation program, the 2024-2025 annual salary range for a Director 2 position, $65,810 to $82,262 to start.

Job Duties
Essential Function: Facilitation, Oversight, and Support
Description:
• Facilitate the development and delivery of courses and programs to meet the dental hygiene education needs of the community.
• Seek out and engage with internal colleagues, employers, K-12 school systems, and other post-secondary educational institutions in efforts to ensure robust enrollment, provide rich and efficient learning experiences, and create educational pathways in the dental hygiene profession.
• Provide oversight and support to the dental hygiene curriculum committee in the development, delivery and assessment of dental hygiene courses and programs.
• Monitor course and program outcomes against quality measures, and student and employer expectations.
• Maintain continuous quality improvement processes to ensure program effectiveness.
• Develop improvement strategies intended to address program access, enrollment, student success, cost efficiency and Perkins Core Performance Indicators.
Essential Function: Program Approval and Accreditation
Description:
• Secure and maintain ongoing State of Michigan Board approval, and program accreditation through the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
• Prepare required self-study and other reports.
• Plan and facilitate site visits.
• Engage dental hygiene faculty in the state approval and CODA processes.
Essential Function: Student Recuitment and Retention
Description:
• Attract and retain students in the dental hygiene program through targeted outreach and engagement.
• Serve as a Dental Hygiene program expert and resource for prospective and current students, faculty, and community partners.
• Promote the dental hygiene profession by leading and participating in recruitment, enrollment, and completion initiatives.
• Develop and maintain admission and academic policies and procedures that address student needs and successful completion.
• Establish course schedules conductive to student needs.
• Develop and maintain innovative and relevant marketing and informational materials for both traditional and digital distribution.
• Facilitate the process to support student success through mentorship, tutoring referrals, and proactive academic interventions.
• Maintain knowledge of student support resources and connect students with appropriate services.
• Plan and participate in student activities including engagement and recognition events.
• Address student concerns and barriers to ensure a supportive learning environment.
• Provide high-quality student service by being responsive, accessible, and solutions-oriented.
Essential Function: Department Management
Description:
• Ensure the Dental Hygiene Department processes and systems align with College policies and practices.
• Foster collaborative relationships across the College.
• Leverage institutional resources to support the work of the Dental Hygiene Department.
• Maintain awareness of issues impacting the College with regard to funding and policy.
• Engage with College administration in budgetary and strategic planning.
• Seek out and engage in College activities and initiatives that help to advance the mission.
• Provide service to the College through leadership and participation on various committees and work groups.
• Attend College events.
