The Position
Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Active Older Adult
Engagement Specialist is responsible for the development, management
and execution of Greater Midland Trips & Travel, AARP Tax Assistance
Program, Social, Prevention and Education programming and support of
Senior Wellness. This individual must maintain high personal standards
and adhere to and carry out the Purpose of Greater Midland to Promote
Vitality, Build Belonging and Serve with Heart.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the safety and wellbeing of active older adults.
- Provide leadership for Trips & Travel (day trips and extended
travel) including planning, promotion, growth, execution, acting as
a Lead Chaperone and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all
travelers.
- Facilitate tax assistance program through coordination of AARP
volunteers, staff and facilities.
- Facilitate social engagement opportunities including but not limited
to Education, Prevention and Speaker Series.
- Provide ongoing support to Senior Wellness programming, in
collaboration with Active Older Adult Program Coordinator.
- Participate in budget process and achieve revenue and expense
expectations as prescribed by the approved budget.
- Exercise strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ongoing participation in professional development and training,
keeping all certifications up-to-date.
- Consistently demonstrate leadership behaviors aligned with
Greater Midland values.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, two to four years of progressively
responsible work experience in senior, travel programming and/or
other recreational programming.
- CPR/First Aid certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Excellent people skills; ability to work with a wide variety of
personalities.
- Demonstrates passion for seniors and a basic knowledge of their
physical, social and emotional make-up.
Physical Requirements
Regular Communication and contact with employees and members.
Repetitive keyboard activity and sitting or standing at a computer
workstation for 4+ consecutive hours; lifting and/or moving up to 20
pounds may be required.
Schedule
Various times 4-5 days a wk.
