Job Summary
The College of Innovation & Technology is looking to fill a Research, Industry, and Innovation Partnerships Manager position to enhance industry-focused research and strategic partnerships. You will be the primary liaison between CIT and industry and will cultivate partnerships, secure industry-sponsored research, and align CIT's programs with regional economic priorities. You will report to the Senior Advisor to the CIT Dean and is housed in the Center for Industry & Strategic Partnerships for Innovation, Research, and Economic Growth (INSPIRE) @ CIT.
Responsibilities*
Industry Relations
- Communicate and build relationships with important industry representatives to create long-term partnerships between CIT and industries for research.
- Help create industry engagement strategies, including outreach, partnership coordination, and follow-up.
- Lead the creation of projects, engagement plans, and agreements to secure research funding for CIT programs.
- Partner with CIT Career Service to coordinate targeted corporate visits, industry networking events, and internship pipelines.
- Communicate engagement opportunities for philanthropic fundraising with UM-Flint University Advancement.
Research and Innovation Partnerships
- Build relationships with CIT researchers to gain general understanding of their research programs.
- Promote communication between CIT researchers and corporate R&D teams to facilitate communication and collaboration.
- Communicate university policy to industry and faculty working with industry.
- Identify translational research opportunities for CIT faculty by aligning expertise with industry needs.
- Facilitate corporate research contract development and coordinate with UM-Flint Office of Research.
Economic & Ecosystem Development
- Develop relationships with economic development organizations (e.g., MEDC, Flint & Genesee Group) to promote CIT's role in regional and statewide innovation initiatives.
- Coordinate economic development efforts and plans with UM-Flint Office of Economic Development.
- Support efforts to report on economic development trends, funding opportunities, and workforce development projects.
- Represent INSPIRE @ CIT at industry conferences, economic forums, and corporate development workshops to enhance visibility and influence.
Program Management & Strategic Leadership
- Provide administrative and logistical support for INSPIREs initiatives, ensuring smooth execution of industry engagement programs.
- Lead the growth and branding of INSPIRE @ CIT, ensuring positioning as a hub for industry collaboration and innovation.
- Support CIT's marketing and outreach efforts by creating narratives that highlight successful industry partnerships and economic impact.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor degree
- 5 or more years of experience working in industry relations or other relevant experience related to the job responsibilities
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in relevant software and other tools related to the job responsibilities

Modes of Work
Hybrid:
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, you may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.

Background Screening
