Job Description\nThe Full Time Substitute Special Education Teacher is a state-certified teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. This teacher will manage the learning process and will focus on students' individual needs as defined by each student's Individualized Education Program by providing instruction, support, and guidance. \n\nThe Full Time Substitute Special Education Teacher will obtain special education licensure in multiple states and will serve students across multiple schools on a rotating time frame between schools.\n\nYou must obtain additional Special Education licenses in a minimum of three states with up to five states preferred by your first day of employment as determined by Stride.\nRequired Certificates and Licenses: Any State Teaching Certification with an endoresment in Special Education.\n\nEndorsement: Special Education\nYou must obtain additional Special Education licenses in a minimum of three states with up to five states preferred by your first day of employment as determined by Stride.\n\nResidency Requirements: This position is virtual and open to residents of the 50 states and Washington, D.C.\n\nK12, a Stride Company, believes in Education for ANY ONE. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school and time zone. \n\nThe Full Time Substitute Special Education Teacher may have to work in a time zone other than the one of their residence.\n\nEssential Functions:Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.\n\n * Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students;\n * Make modifications and accommodations to Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP;\n * Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom;\n * Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives;\n * Maintain grade book ensuring student academic integrity and alert administrators to concerns regarding student performance and progress;\n * Ensure all special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP Team by:\n\n * Communicating with parents and applicable related service staff to ensure that students with special needs are receiving the appropriate services;\n * Developing progress reports and other state-specific special education documentation;\n * Using provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities, such as assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text.\n\n * Document all contact with parents and interventions with students;\n * Demonstrate commitment to personalized learning experiences for all students;\n * Demonstrate a belief in all students' ability to succeed and meet high expectations;\n * Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests;\n * Establish and maintain positive rapport with families, and regularly communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches / parents in a timely manner;\n * Support learning coaches / parents with student curricular and instructional issues, as well as basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment in alignment with school policies and procedures;\n * Support a culture and climate conducive to effective teaching and learning;\n * Maintain strong computer skills to effectively operate company systems and programs;\n\nMINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n\n * Bachelor's degree AND\n * Active State Special Education teaching license AND\n * Three (3) years of experience as a Special Education Teacher AND\n * Ability to clear required background check\n\nOTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: \n\n * Excellent instructional skills;\n * Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills;\n * Strong attention to detail;\n * Strong positive attitude and work ethic;\n * Strong oral and written communication skills;\n * Strong ability to embrace change and adapt to changes in school assignments through the school year;\n * Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Web proficiency.\n\nDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n\n * Special education licenses in multiple states;\n * Experience supporting students and adults in the use of technology;\n * Experience teaching in both online and brick-and-mortar environments.\n\nCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.\n\nWe anticipate the salary range to be $26,104.00 - $68,361.27.\n\nOffers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.\n\nEligible employees may receive a bonus. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.
