Oneida County Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for the establishment of an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff.
The 2025 starting rate of pay is $29.95 per hour, with top patrol pay at $33.51 per hour for 1,950 “base hours” per year; lateral transfers available and encouraged. Deputies work a “7-on / 7-off” shift schedule, 10.5 hours per day, resulting in 26 weekends off per year. Additionally, there is an opportunity for deputies to be scheduled Monday thru Friday with weekends off. Deputies have the opportunity to work overtime whether it be for training, transports, open-shifts, special assignments, or other occasions when needed.
