The Agile Release Train Engineer (RTE) plans and facilitates the Agile Release Train (ART) events and processes through the preparation, planning, execution, and learning cycles to help maximize value delivery. The RTE works closely with the ART business owners, product managers, system architects, and others to lead and optimize the flow of value the ART delivers. The RTE coaches, guides, and supports all levels of the ART using metrics and tools to ensure performance visibility and transparency. * Coaches and guides the Agile Release Train * Establishes and communicates the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs) * Facilitates PI planning readiness and facilitates the PI planning event. * Summarizes Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publishes them for visibility and transparency. * Assists in tracking the execution of features. * Facilitates periodic synchronization meetings, including the ART (Agile Release Train) sync at the Program Level * Assists with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics. * Helps manage risks and dependencies; escalates and tracks impediments. * Provides input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks. * Encourages collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects/Engineer * Work the Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment. * Improves the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing DevOps and Release on Demand competency. * Helps drive the Learn User Experience (UX) innovation cycle. * Works with the Agile Program Management Office (APMO) on program execution and operational excellence * Understands and operates within Lean Budgets and ensure adherence to Guardrails. * Facilitates System Demos and Solution Demos * Drives relentless improvement; assesses the agility level of the ART and helps them improve. EDUCATION * Bachelor's degree required in computer science or related field. * Master's degree preferred. * Agile and/or Portfolio Certification or progress towards certification is highly preferred and encouraged. * Continuous learning through certifications, classes, public speaking engagements, etc., as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. EXPERIENCE * Minimum seven years relevant IT experience in managing multiple information systems projects. * 5 years of experience in an agile / scrum environment with a demonstrated appreciation for large enterprise standards and experience working in a mature Scaled Agile environment using SAFe concepts and metrics as well as experience leading large teams and portfolios of work. * Knowledge of Insurance and Financial industry preferred. QUALIFICATIONS * Ability to mentor junior team members with less experience. * Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse leaders. * Ability to communicate and influence across business and technical domains, and across all levels of the organization. * Proven experience managing effective governance in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and/or other agile methodology framework. * Dynamic public speaking capabilities in front of large groups. * Experience overseeing enterprise and large budget initiatives. * Ability to communicate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. * Strong ability to design and implement dashboards; ability to analyze data and present it in a way that tells a story. * Comfortable with ambiguity and can handle the unexpected with flexibility. * Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written * Ability to work with a collaborative approach and build trust with others. * Comfortable working in a matrixed organization * Well versed with Scaled Agile Framework's Portfolio Management methodology * Proficient knowledge of Agile/DevOps/Program Mgmt. Lifecycle methodologies and standards * Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills * Experience working in a geographically distributed and culturally diverse workgroup. * Knowledge and experience using PPM tools, Jira, Confluence, MS Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Visio.
