Positions Location: Lansing, MI
General Purpose of Job:
Preparation and service of all assigned baked items and desserts for use by the Food and Nutrition Services department.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Responsible to lead production of all baked goods, pastries and desserts including, menu planning, recipe verification, production methods and quality assurance.
- Facilitate inventory, ordering and stocking all items necessary for production in bake shop.
- Responsible for cleaning bake shop and reporting equipment that needs repair to supervisor and fellow caregivers.
- Ensures proper handling and storage of baked goods. Labels and dates all products according to established guidelines.; communicating all orders to buyer.
- Trains new or part-time caregivers in bake shop related areas.
- Takes charge of department functions in absence of other supervision. (Ensure proper customer service)
- Maintains hospital standards by participating in in services, committees, continuing education programs, etc.
- Assist PM Retail Cooks with overnight meal as needed.

Work Experience |
• Five years baking and pastry experience with demonstrated volume production experience. |
Education |
• High school diploma or G.E.D. • Current ServSafe Certification. Preferred. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
• College courses or advanced culinary courses in baking and pastry. Preferred. |
