Job Summary
The Lead Vision Automation Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and managing vision systems across the US and Canada region that assure performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence and cost control within the production sites.
Lead and coordinate vision automation processes across the region including automation engineering strategies across our manufacturing sites. Ensure projects meet specifications, are delivered on time, and within budget. Supports site engineers and vendors in designing and implementing vision automated processes.
LOCATION
Location will be on-site at any U.S. Jabil manufacturing facility. This is not a remote role.
Travel will be up to 50% to other U.S. manufacturing sites, depending on business and project needs, as applicable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of the regional vision automation strategies across the US and Canada sites. These strategies include vision equipment, MES / data connectivity, maintenance, vendor management, and training
Lead the deployment of Jabils standard internal visions systems across the region. Coach and mentor the site engineers to drive their own vision implementation projects.
Determine and implement 3rd party solutions where additional capabilities are required beyond Jabils standard internal vision systems
Establish and clearly communicate all global and regional vision automation strategies to the site engineers (including safety and ergonomics)
Coach, mentor and train site Automation and Manufacturing Engineers on design and implementation of vision system
Support recruiting and retention of Automation talent within the sites
Report and drive improvements across the sites through the monitoring of the key manufacturing metrics
Oversee internal/external manufacturers to ensure parts meet design specifications
Generate design drawings, installation manuals, and user manuals as required
Manage all projects and initiatives using Project Management tools and principles and ensure projects meet delivery timelines and budgets
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job Qualifications
Knowledge Requirements:
Advanced knowledge in vision equipment, camera systems, and software engineering for vision equipment deployment.
Advanced knowledge of automation equipment assembly and installation.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Experience with manufacturing of one or more of the following product types strongly preferred: large Form-Factor products such as energy storage systems, batteries, servers / cloud network systems, switch gear with liquid cooling, or other data/dev center infrastructure
BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science,or equivalent experience
Project management experience is essential - directing, leading, planning and managing projects
Experience with Keyence, Matrox, and/or Cognex Cameras
Experience with teaching / set up of vision hardware set up, lighting techniques, camera hardware selection
Experience with the design, build and start-up of manufacturing systems.
Experience with design, set up, and debug of automation systems.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation equipment design and installation.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
The pay range for this role is $103,000 - $185,400. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
