Overview
Element Ann Arbor has a great opportunity for a Proteomics Scientist to join our Method Development and Characterization team. The individual must be proficient in protein biochemistry, protein mass spectrometry (bottom up and top down proteomics), and hands on LC-MS/MS experience and analysis.
Responsibilities
Design, execute and analyze protein LC-MS/MS to elucidate protein sequence and post translational modifications such as glycosylation, deamidation, and other characterization attributes.
Design, execute, and analyze proteomics experiments to identify unknown proteins in a sample.
Perform other analytical separations techniques such as HPLC (SEC, RP, AIEX, CIEX), LC-MS/MS, LC-QTOF, cIEF, CE-SDS.
Perform basic molecular biology techniques such as UV-Vis, Enzymatic Assays, BCA, Bradford, ELISA, Western Blots, SDS-PAGE.
Perform method development to meet intent of customer needs.
Write reports and proper documentation of the work in cGMP setting
Carry out technical transfer of the developed method to other groups within the organization
Execute projects with minimal supervision
Have the ability to analyze data from the qualitative to the rigorously statistical and defend conclusions based on data
Have the ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical abilities
Follow all safety requirements including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
Generate supporting laboratory documentation
Ensure compliance with government rules and regulations (FDA, cGMP, DEA, ICH, OSHA, etc.)
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills / Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or Cellular Molecular Biology
1 Year of experience in a related field, discipline, or environment
Hands on experience designing and executing proteomics projects
Hands on experience with large molecules such as peptides, proteins, AAV or lentivirus
Hands on experience with HPLC and mass spectrometers
Effective scientific writer (experience with report writing)
Effective oral presenter (experience with scientific presentations)
Effective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Must be a flexible, adaptable, self-driven team player with a positive attitude
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
