Elementary Media Secretary
(Edustaff Employee - Part-time 20 hours per week)

Job Summary: Assist in providing a well-organized, smooth functioning media center environment in which teachers and students can take full advantage of available resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain media center inventory and electronic database
- Perform check in and check out functions of all media center materials and equipment as well as processing overdue notices
- Process shipments and invoices as appropriate
- Answer phone and route incoming calls appropriately
- Assist with opening and closing the media center including turning on all equipment, running reports, etc.
- Set up displays, bulletin boards, etc.
- Supervise parent volunteer(s) working in the media center
- Reshelf books, periodicals, etc., keeping all areas neat and orderly
- Perform shelf reading on a regular basis
- Perform minor book repairs; prepare books for rebinding
- Maintain confidentiality and loyalty to employer
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the building media specialist or principal.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular and consistent attendance.
- Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Portage Public Schools Employee Handbook.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Additional related media training desirable but not required.
- Knowledge of library media programs
- Computer keyboarding skills, secretarial and clerical skills
- Ability to operate office machines such as computer, copier, and fax machine
- Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, and exercise good judgment
- Proficient computer and document skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
