OVERVIEW The Director, Financial Planning Analysis - Financial Performance directs the Company's internal financial reporting and analysis functions. They analyzes reasons for variance versus forecast, prior year and budget, recommending actions to drive improvements. They work closely with teams throughout the organization to report on key metrics and assumptions and aid in the development of models to support forecasting, budgeting and capital transactions. JOB DUTIES * Directs the analysis of financial and operational results versus forecast, prior year and budget and the investigation of signification variances, development of corrective action and communication of findings and recommendations to department leaders. * Directs the monthly presentation of Company performance to Executive Management. * Directs the preparation and reporting of certain financial data for inclusion in external reporting. * Conducts financial analysis and the presentation of results to senior leadership in contribution to the management of operational and financial performance. * Identifies key business drivers and tracks performance against identified metrics; challenges the status quo and updates reporting to reflect relevant and actionable data. * Directs the development and maintenance of key financial reports and analytical dashboards in the Company's ERP system and business intelligence applications. * Coordinates the review of known and pending transactions for impact to FFO, NOI and other key metrics. * Works closely with the Accounting and Capital Investments teams to determine analytical support needs and data required to build reliable metrics, business cases and finacial models. * Coordinate team member selection, training, scheduling and development of direct reports and ensure team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures. * Partners with Team Relations on team member counseling and recommendation of termination when appropriate. * Conducts team member performance reviews and recommends compensation adjustments. * Participates in the development of models and analyses to aid in the validation of existing forecasts; supports strategic initiatives and reviews critical financial decisions including monitoring and reporting on key performance metrics and trend analyses. * Acquires key knowledge of business partners' strategies and operations; proactively anticipates and responds to environmental shifts. * Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting * Master's Degree, preferred * 5+ years financial analysis * 3+ years in a supervisory role * Certified Public Accountant or comparable certification * Demonstrated leadership abilities * Prior experience with budgeting software conversion project * Strong organization, analytical and problem solving skills * Working knowledge of datawarehouses; ability to identify requisite data and their potential sources * Advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/budgeting software programs REWARDING BENEFITS At Sun Communities, you will be part of an industry-leading organization where you will be challenged, inspired, rewarded and transformed.
