Position: Assistant Branch Manager I
Employment Status: Pay Grade 9 / Non-Exempt
Reports to: Branch Leader
Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission, vision, and brand promise. You will do this by living out our core values in every service contact to both internal and external members. Essential Duties

Deliver on the Credit Union’s Promises in each service interaction

Supervise teller operations: assigning work, resolving problems, handling complex transactions

Assist Branch Leader with hiring and onboarding new team members

Train and cross-train staff in their respective roles

Evaluate staff performance to ensure quality member service

Collaborate with Branch Leader on coaching, training, and performance documentation

Responsible for the branch when Branch Leader is absent
-
Available to work M–F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday coverage as needed, and occasional after-hours

Obtain State of Michigan Credit Producers License within 6 months of lending training

Successfully obtain CCUFC designation within the first year of service
Duties and Responsibilities

Analyze workflow and staffing needs; manage teller schedules

Approve member exceptions, overrides, and fee waivers

Investigate teller losses and implement corrective actions
-
Promote teamwork among front-line departments
-
Oversee ATM, Vault, Cash Dispenser, and Coin Machine operations

Order and verify cash from the Fed weekly
-
Improve service efficiency and recordkeeping accuracy
-
Train with Branch Leader on progressive discipline
-
Provide time clock support when Branch Leader is unavailable
General Sales Expectations

Use Sales Champion skills to coach staff

Coach employees to identify and offer beneficial products and services

Ensure consistent, high-quality service to members
Member Service Representative Functions
-
Operate and balance a cash drawer

Identify opportunities to deepen relationships with members

Process service transactions and address payment delinquencies
Opening New Accounts
-
Explain credit union products and prepare account documentation
-
Understand and explain credit reports
-
Support account auditing and adverse action processes
-
Stay current on HSA/IRA regulations
Lending
-
Conduct loan interviews, review applications, and process closings
-
Obtain necessary documentation, including credit reports and insurance proof
Other Duties

Answer phones and assist with member inquiries

Attend educational events as required

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of CU policies and state/federal regulations

Education and Experience

Minimum high school graduate or equivalent

At least 1 year of prior banking or credit union experience

Working knowledge of credit union products and services

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
