The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) has one opening for Bulk Power Controller in Lansing, MI, as part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, AFL-CIO, Local Union 352.
Position Summary:
Optimizes the BWL Generation asset portfolio within the MISO market to provide reliable and affordable electric service to BWL customers.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluates the MISO market and makes financial decisions for the real-time dispatch of BWL generating assets
- Adheres to intra-day market forecasts, enters bids and offers into the MISO market, monitors and dispatches BWL generation
- Coordinates generation dispatch within System Operating Limits. Employs good written and verbal communication skills to properly interact with customers, other industry personnel, and other employees
- Performs normal and emergency system operations
- Performs other related duties as required or when necessitated by job responsibilities
- Attends all training for safety awareness and skills improvement as required by the supervisor, BWL or governmental agency such as NERC and MIOSHA
- Required to follow BWL safety manual rules and wear required personal protective equipment
- Follows and enforces BWL security policies and procedures
