Skills/Knowledge
Must know, or when necessary, acquaint themselves with the rules, regulations and standards for the safe operation of specific training topic being delivered.
Needs to have knowledge of common equipment used in workshops and industrial environments both stationary and mobile. Examples include Overhead hoisting equipment, forklifts, hand/power tools, etc.
The ability to interpret and familiarize students, concerning the operator safety manual, warning decals and placards.
Possesses the ability to recognize potential hazards and the means to protect against identified hazards.
Ability to interpret manufacturer's guidelines for proper application, as well as the consequences of improper use of equipment.
Has a good safety record that is based on consistent implementation of safety guidelines.
Communication
Possesses good communication and presentation skills when speaking with groups or individuals.
Knows and understands the teaching methods and learning styles of adult learners.
Able to obtain acknowledgement from the operator that he/she can implement the training.
Has the ability to deliver training in a manner and language appropriate to ensure understanding by the audience.
Qualities
Possesses a concern for the welfare of others so they may serve as a safety advocate.
Be intuitive and perceptive with people, i.e., can "read" the audience.
Works in a confident and honest manner with people.
Other requirements
4 years' experience adult learning technical training delivery and
2 years' heavy equipment operation
Ability to become familiar with and deliver common safety and compliance training courses such as Personal Fall Protection, Asbestos Awareness, Lead Awareness, Fire Extinguisher, etc.
Be at least 21 years of age.
Possess a valid driver license that has been in continuous effect for not less than 5 years immediately preceding the application.
Provide the applicant's driver license number
Must pass or provide a current criminal history and driving record check.
Certify there is no pending criminal matter or outstanding arrest, warrant, or conviction since submitting a request for a criminal history check.
Submit a certified medical examination report (equipment physical) that is not older than 90 days that is prepared by a physician, physician's assistant, or certified nurse practitioner.
Have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
CDL experience a plus but not mandatory.
Mobile crane and rigging experience a plus, but not mandatory
