Job Description: We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineer with experience in the conveyance or material handling industry to join our team. However, we are also open to training the right applicant. This role offers flexibility with the option to work in-office or hybrid (must be able to commute to the Alpena, MI area).
Key Responsibilities:
- Use CAD and MS Office software to create manufacturing drawings, models for concept development per customer requirements, customer approval drawings, instructional documentation, product testing and inspection documentation, and other various documents as directed.
- Use business management software to create Bill of Materials for work distribution to manufacturing and purchasing, create/review internal notifications, gather quote and job-related information, search, review, and edit inventory data as needed, and perform other various tasks as needed.
- Manage time effectively and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Work with team leaders to assign appropriate priority.
- Design, engineer, and prototype new products and systems to solve customer needs.
- Participate in the development of production methods and fixtures as needed.
- Work within a budget to deliver safe and efficient products on time.
- Attend meetings and provide input and updates.
- Review, produce, and maintain design documentation.
- Review and implement customer specifications in product designs.
- Maintain and store design files and revision data.
- Provide explanation of design changes as needed.
Skills Needed:
- Proficiency with CAD Tools, including Solidworks and AutoCAD.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools including Word and Excel.
- Strong engineering ethics and fundamentals (math, physics, engineering).
- Experience with Design for Manufacture practices.
- Understanding of basic budgeting and marketing impacts on project success.
- Proactive, self-motivated, organized, creative, and possess superior communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly get up to speed in new constantly changing environments.
- Team player comfortable working on multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
- Passion for solving complex challenges with innovative solutions.
