Job Description: Below are the three possible deliverables depending on ability and interest of the student: 1. Job efficiency is an important aspect in the automoitve field. One mechanism for better efficiency is better tools for engineers. Deliverable for this job would be analysis tools for data including a simple FFT tool, flip sign, average, standard deviation and curve generating tools. 2. Testing is a critical part of engineering. However, before testing, requirements need to be established. This deliverable would include taking a flow diagram and talking with the engineer who created the diagram and understand what requirements drove the flow diagram and document the requirement in a word document. Once the requirements are established testing can occur to make srue the author of the flow diagram fully captured the intended requirements. This testing can then lead to more testing at the software level to verify that the team coded the software correctly to meet the same requirement. 3. Noise is a typical issue for steering. Noise can be affected by either changing the transmission path to eliminate or reduce structurally vibrations or to eliminate the vibration source. Design of experiments (DOE) can be a useful tool to determine appropriate actions for noise however a DOE typically needs attention to get parts, software and organize testing. The task for this item woul dbe to manage delivery of parts, testing, analyze data, and report to the team the results of the DOE.
Special skill requirements: High motivation, organized, experience in Excel and has strong computer skills. Canape, C or Matlab/Simulink experience is preferred but not necessary.
