Oak House is looking to hire a part-time with the opportunity to move into full-time Direct Care Worker. Hours are afternoons (3-11p) including weekends. Duties are outlined on the job description (attached).
Oak House is a teaching home for high functioning adults who are developmentally disabled. Their goal is to learn the life skills needed to move into their own apartment.
Qualifications:
- Must have an interest and/or aptitude in one or more of the following areas: special education, food prep and menu planning.
- At least 18 years of age, with a High School diploma.
- Good health (physically and emotionally able to handle a group of adults).
- Free from T.B.
Note: Other combinations of experience and education which could provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed will be evaluated on an individual basis.
Supervision:
This position is supervised by the Director and Assistant Director.
Responsibilities:
- Attend all required training and orientations within the time frame given;
- Read log book and initial all notes;
- Supervise and assist residents with cleaning of the home;
- Transport residents to social and recreational program;
- Secure and administer prescribed medications and documentation of such;
- Carry out and chart daily the individual program plans;
- Chart daily in ELMER;
- Assist the residents with the expenditures of their money as advised by the Director;
- Count all the monies in the resident’s box and in the program money box and list shortages before and after using;
- Advise, teach and assist, as needed, with adult daily living skills. This may include, shaving, showering, cooking, laundry, budgeting, oral care, and any other task needed. Remember this is a teaching home.
- Advise, teach and assist with daily programming for residents according to IPOS;
- Attend staff meeting, in services and conferences as deemed necessary by the Director;
- Be willing to carry out any other responsibilities or tasks assigned.
Minimum requirements are valid drivers license and high school diploma or equivalent.
Mandatory 40-hour training through Copper Country Mental Health
Mandatory Oak House orientation
Mandatory health screening and TB test.
Hourly pay is minimum of $17.00/hour, Paid time off and paid sick time.
