Position Summary:

• Remains alert and vigilant, observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned General Motors site, providing for the security and safety of General Motors property and personnel.
• Maintains focus and awareness while working in a stressful environment, which includes noise from alarms, machinery and people, crowd distractions, time pressure, to preserve the professional ability to identify and locate potentially life-threatening situations and make effective decisions in both crisis and routine situations.
• Engages in continuous development of critical thinking skills necessary to mitigate actual and potential threats by identifying, evaluating, and applying appropriate situational options and approaches. This may include application of risk-based security assessments.
• Retain and implement knowledge of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures, demonstrating responsible and dependable behavior, and is open to change and adapts to new information or unexpected obstacles.
• Assures compliance with applicable sections of the General Motors Global Security Manual and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Provides a courteous and pleasant interaction with each General Motors employee and visitor; presents a good image of General Motors and its security department.
• Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned General Motors site, providing for the security and safety of General Motors property and personnel.
• Preserves order and enforces regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
• Controls access to General Motors facility through the admittance process; assists visitors with legitimate need to gain entry to the facility; screens visitors and General Motors employees in an efficient manner to expedite their admittance to the facility.
• Conducts inbound/outbound package inspections.
• Monitors entrances and exits; acts to prevent unauthorized entry; controls entrances, the movement of people and vehicles and parking; operates gate and examines vehicle contents; monitors remote entrances using closed circuit television; and operates remote access devices.
• Patrols assigned site on foot or in vehicle to ensure a secure work environment; checks for unsafe conditions. Hazards inspect High Risk areas, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons; inspects buildings and grounds using appropriate equipment and protective gear.
• Prepares logs or reports as required for site; writes or types reports or enters information in a computer using standard grammar; inspects security control logs and takes required action as required by General Motors Global Security standards.
• Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations, sets up barriers and signage and provides direction or information of others.
• Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions following procedures established for the site and commensurate with their level of training.
• Maintains Basic First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Acts to ensure that all property removal is conducted within appropriate policy requirements.
• Issues necessary Hot Work Permits.
• Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner.
• Communicate in a manner that is open, honest and responsive in all situations; to the extent authorized.
• Carries out specific tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned site.
• Reports to Site Security Supervision.
