Position: Member Relationship Representative I
Employment Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Branch Leader
Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union in delivering on its mission: To encourage a better tomorrow. Essential Duties
- Deliver on the Credit Union’s service promises in every member interaction.
- Develop and maintain an effective level of product knowledge.
- Identify members’ financial needs and recommend appropriate Credit Union solutions.
- Inform members of loan options available within Credit Union lending policies.
- Increase loan volume by cross-selling additional loan products based on member needs and credit reports.
- Open new accounts, IRA accounts, certificates of deposit, and various share accounts.
- Educate new and potential members on MFCU products and services to enhance financial wellness.
- Maintain a visible presence in the community by participating in business, chamber, and charitable events.
- Travel is required to various branch locations to cover staffing needs.
- Work in-branch/office Monday – Friday (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), with Saturday coverage as needed and occasional events outside normal hours.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed in this position. Additional duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Create opportunities for expanded member relationships by identifying additional product needs.
- Process member transactions, including cash deposits, withdrawals, and checks.
- Operate and balance a cash drawer as needed.
- Handle inquiries on member accounts, statements, and transaction histories.
- Process check orders and issue Visa Gift and Travel Cards, as well as cashier’s checks and money orders.
- Remind delinquent members about overdue payments and offer solutions.
New Accounts Responsibilities
- Clearly explain Credit Union products and services to new members.
- Prepare and process new account documentation and initial share deposits.
- Assist with the new accounts auditing process to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare adverse action letters when accounts or services are denied.
- Stay knowledgeable about IRA laws and documentation requirements.
General Sales Expectations
- Use effective Sales Champion skills to deepen member relationships.
- Actively participate in Credit Union initiatives, promotions, and financial service goal achievements.
- Build and strengthen relationships with new and existing members.
- Assist with the onboarding process to welcome and engage new members.
Other Responsibilities
- Answer phones and handle member inquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Process incoming mail and electronic requests as needed.
- Attend educational training and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to move or transport up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to remain stationary for 2-4 hours at a time.
Work Environment
- Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
- Routinely clean and disinfect work areas, including teller stations and electronic equipment.
- Protect the confidentiality of member information by securing sensitive documents.
Education and Experience
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years of related experience required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to attain the Financial Counselor Certification (CCUFC) through CUNA within six months.

Experience
- Required: 1-2 years of related experience.
- Preferred: Experience as a New Accounts Representative or Lender.
