University of Michigan Health-West (Formally Metro Health) is looking for a Technical Engineer 1-Information Technology.
Understand strategic vision of Metro Health and Information Services. Ensure daily activities align with strategic visions. Develop, implement, and support our infrastructure systems, including server and storage hardware, as well as application and management software. Provide support to customers, service desk, and operators, and communicate system issues or process exceptions to appropriate IT Personnel.
Requirements:
- Experience and knowledge of healthcare is preferred.
- Bachelors degree or one years related experience in CIS, MIS, IS, Comp Sci, Engineering or Business Administration with emphasis in information systems
- Able to work off-hours.
- Has appropriate high-speed internet available at home.
- Able to participate on a 24/7/365 on-call rotation.
- Possesses a working knowledge of protocols, routing and networking fundamentals as they pertain to network technologies.
- Has experience in using remote support technologies such as VPN.
- Possesses fundamental knowledge of basic IT security best practices.
- Possesses fundamental knowledge of keeping IT systems compliant with HIPAA and other regulatory measures for IT systems
- Possesses a valid state, preferably Michigan, drivers license.
- Possesses dependable transportation between sites.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Is the primary contact for assigned system environments and technical operations
- Utilizes work order systems for entering, tracking, documenting and/or resolving technology issues and tasks.
- Provides troubleshooting and technical support for assigned systems
- Designs, documents and educates I.T. staff on established troubleshooting best practices.
- Monitors and supports Metro Health technical infrastructure for maximum system ability.
- Performs system and data restores as needed.
- Perform infrastructure assessments to identify potential actions to improve performance, security and manageability.
- Participates with project teams to execute assigned project tasks
- Coordinates the testing of system environment functionality within a project
- Provides support for testing and conversion activities
- Maintains appropriate documentation for the support of assigned systems
- Maintains certifications, attends technology training, and user group attendance, which supports the latest changes in the application, technology, or support.
- Other duties as assigned with reliable and predictable attendance.
