Electronics & Lethality Hardware Optics Engineer Sterling Heights, MI Contract Position Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. Responsibilities: * Lead the development, integration, and testing of electro-optic products and hardware for military vehicles, supporting both prototype and production efforts. * Develop and integrate electrical engineering designs for electro-optic systems, including hardware such as gunner's and commander's sights, control panels, vision systems, encoders, gyros, meteorological sensors, and circuit card assemblies (CCAs). * Lead concept development, design, design verification testing (DVT), prototype builds, qualification testing, fielding, and customer support of fielded hardware. * Design subsystems and components to meet vehicle performance, safety, and environmental requirements. * Support circuit design, component selection, analysis, and detailed design of electro-optical components, including custom and supplier-purchased parts. * Review and develop hardware and software requirements, technical documentation, and test plans. * Collaborate with teams to troubleshoot, implement technical corrective actions, and lead redesign activities for prototype and production vehicle builds. * Maintain detailed records of design changes, testing/debugging status, and hardware/software revisions. * Perform testing and evaluation of electro-optical components in the lab environment. * Present design concepts and program status to functional and program management. Qualifications: * Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (fewer years considered with an advanced degree). * Technical Skills & Knowledge: * Proficiency in engineering development and test tools. * Experience with digital and analog circuit design, gyroscopes, encoders, cameras, and electro-optical systems. * Knowledge of circuit design, including schematic development, simulation, PCB layout, power, thermal analysis, and voltage/current control. * Familiarity with MIL standards, IPC standards, and EMI/EMC design practices. * Experience with microprocessor-based products, including NXP microcontrollers, and industry interface standards such as VITA42/46, COM Express, and ETX. * Proficiency with serial interconnects, USB, CAN, RS422/485, and graphics/video interfaces (SDI, DVI, HDMI). * Hands-on experience with test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and function generators. * Desired skills include knowledge of MATLAB, MATHCAD, Mentor Graphics Schematic Capture, CAMView/CAM350, and optical hardware testing. * Programming experience in C, C#, and VisualStudio Suite. * Additional Requirements: * Ability to travel to supplier and government sites (approximately 5%). * Strong multitasking skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
