Electronics & Lethality Hardware Sensors Engineer Sterling Heights, MI Contract Position Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. Responsibilities: * Design, integrate, and test advanced electro-optic products to support tracked and wheeled military vehicles. * Develop and integrate electro-optic hardware: Create designs and support concept development, Design Verification Testing (DVT), procurement, prototype builds, qualification testing, and fielding of hardware. * Support key hardware systems: Work with products such as gunner's and commander's fixed/panoramic sights, auxiliary sights, control panels, vision systems, gyros, accelerometers, meteorological sensors, and circuit card assemblies (CCAs). * Meet performance requirements: Design subsystems and components to meet vehicle performance, human factors, safety, and environmental standards. * Perform circuit and component design: Conduct component selection/analysis for commercial and military electro-optical components, including custom designs, supplier-sourced parts, and key specification generation. * Create and review technical documents: Develop hardware/software requirements, test plans, and technical documentation. * Prototype and production support: Assist with vehicle builds, troubleshooting, technical corrective actions, and redesign activities. * Test and evaluate systems: Perform testing and validation of electro-optical components in lab settings, using tools like oscilloscopes, power supplies, and function generators. * Track design changes: Maintain records of design changes, debug status, and hardware/software revisions. * Present design concepts: Share updates and program statuses with functional and program management. Qualifications: * Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 3 years of relevant experience (fewer years acceptable with an advanced degree). * Technical Skills: * Experience with digital and analog circuit design. * Proficiency with test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, etc.). * Familiarity with schematic development, component selection, circuit simulation, and PCB layout. * Knowledge of power and thermal analysis, voltage/current control, PWM, and PID. * Understanding of MIL and IPC standards for hardware development. * Travel Requirement: Ability to travel up to 5% to supplier and government sites. * Preferred: * Experience with MATLAB, MATHCAD, Mentor Graphics Schematic Capture, CAMView, or CAM350. * Familiarity with microprocessor-based products (e.g., PCI Express, DDR2/DDR3, USB, SATA). * Knowledge of microcontroller systems, including configuration, coding, and programming (NXP microcontrollers preferred). * Experience with industry interface standards (VITA42/46, COM Express, ETX). * Expertise in graphics/video interfaces (SDI, DVI, HDMI, RS-170) and serial interconnects (USB, CAN, RS422/485). * Understanding of EMI/EMC design practices and optical hardware testing. * Proficiency in programming languages like C and C#, as well as the Visual Studio Suite.
