Department Summary: Solution Development is a team responsible for researching, designing, and implementing solutions for complex product and program offerings and making recommendations to senior leadership that address strategic initiatives for all commercial insured and self-funded accounts. The purpose of these solutions is to enhance member experience, improve clinical outcomes and/or result in cost-savings while enhancing quality of care. What You'll Do (Illustrative) * To meet evolving healthcare market demands, the intern will support the plan, design and development of new and innovative products and business opportunities from conceptualization to product launch. Examples of past solutions include family building, menopause, cancer care navigation, wellness, diabetes management and musculoskeletal product offerings. * Conduct primary and secondary research regarding competitor's strategies, market opportunities, and product trends and summarize findings to leadership. * Assist in performing build vs. buy analyses, assist in conducting Requests for Proposals and developing contracts with vendors. * Develop business cases outlining the value for each product and program offering to the corporation and our customers. This includes assisting in the development of logic models, cost models and value propositions. * Identify performance metrics and success criteria for reporting to ensure product goals are achieved. * Provide input into marketing and sales strategies. * Ensure that the development of product and program solutions is consistent with the intended design and strategy during business requirement setting. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the implementation of new products offerings, certificate and rider development, launch, communication and training requirements. * Participate in department meetings and events (i.e. monthly Diversity and Inclusion events, department wide team building events, weekly meetings to ensure team alignment, etc.). QUALIFICATIONS * Current undergraduate or graduate student with a 3.0 GPA or higher required. * Interns must be enrolled in a college/university or a Master's/PhD program for the duration of the internship. * Effective verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills. * Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. * Excellent organizational skills to deal with multiple projects and priorities. * Responsible for maintaining confidential information to the highest degree. * Proficient in Microsoft Office suites and applicable BCBSM systems. * Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
