Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties)
Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and support production in the implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) policies, procedures, and associated digital applications.
Lead local efforts to identify and mitigate health and safety hazards.
Ensure that manufacturing operations comply with Michigan Occupational Safety & Health Act (MIOSHA) regulations, Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA) regulations and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Ensure safety policies and procedures are monitored and revised to meet current business needs, internal standards, and revised MIOSHA or OSHA requirements.
Work collaboratively with Manufacturing staff to establish local safety processes, procedures, standards, and systems.
Facilitate EH&S risk analyses, like Job Safety Analysis, for all local equipment and processes.
Ensure all EH&S incidents and near miss reports are documented and investigations are complete and thorough, including corrective actions to target root causes.
Review and maintain OSHA 300, 300A and 301 logs and documents.
Analyze local incident and near miss data to identify trends.
Develop and keep current a local EH&S annual training and event calendar to meet regulatory requirements, address identified EH&S risks, and terrasmart Business Unit and Gibraltar Industries Environmental Health & Safety strategies.
Review local capital projects, business and engineering changes (MOC) for EH&S risks and concerns.
Audit facility operations to verify compliance with EH&S regulatory and corporate requirements.
Support and lead environmental programs and ensure compliance with applicable Gibraltar, local and federal regulations (EPA).
Lead Safety Committee and a monthly EH&S review with local leadership team.
Prepare and provide EH&S training, as required, on health and safety hazards, applicable regulations, procedures and policies to a variety of employees from operators to local leadership team.
Provide local EH&S content for New Hire Orientation and ensure all new employees and new temps receive the orientation.
Perform other local duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.
Participate with other EH&S professionals to contribute to the development and improvement of EH&S policies, procedures, and safety management systems for the Terrasmart business unit and Gibraltar Industries.
