Comprehensive benefit package (health care, vacation, etc.) FLSA: Exempt Temporary/Continuing: Temporary Part-Time/Full-Time: Full-Time Union Group: N/A Term of Position: 12 Month At Will/Just Cause: Just Cause Summary of Position: Successful Candidates will be expected to provide leadership in the strategic planning, administration, staffing and program compliance of the Pre-Service Track Program and Regional Training Academy. Assure compliance with policies, practices, and procedures of the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) and Ferris State University. Serve as the Liaison between, Ferris State University, MCOLES, Michigan Criminal Justice Training Consortiums and Mid-Michigan law enforcement agencies. Develop, coordinate, schedule and staff grants. Develop, coordinate, schedule and staff in-service training programs. Facilitate the Police Academy Advisory Board. Perform other duties as needed by the School of Criminal Justice. This is a 3-year renewable position. The anticipated start date of this position is January 2025. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed. Position Type: Staff Required Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in criminal justice or related field of study. Required Work Experience: United States Law Enforcement experience required. Administrative experience required. Required Licenses and Certifications: Physical Demands: Office Environment Bending Carrying Moving Reaching Sitting Pulling/Pushing Repetitive movement Standing Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Graduate degree related to Criminal Justice or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree. Experience teaching in a law enforcement academy. Grant writing experience. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Experience in personnel management and supervision, budget development and control are key competences for the role. A working knowledge of MCOLES policy and procedures and curriculum requirements are also essential. Candidates must possess adequate computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Support, promote, and develop University student enrollment and retention initiatives. Perform any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
