Position: Assistant Real Estate Lending Manager I
Employment Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Real Estate Lending Leader
Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission: To encourage a better tomorrow. Essential Duties
- Create a positive, empowering environment for team members to allow for goal success and professional development.
- Recommend procedures and processes to foster continuous improvement within the department.
- Maintain loan procedures for the real estate lending department in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Act as department head in the absence of the Real Estate Lending Leader.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of Quarterly & Annual HMDA data submissions.
- Attain the Financial Counselor Certification (CCUFC) through CUNA within the first 12 months.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed in this position. Additional duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Align team member performance goals with the Credit Union’s strategic plan.
- Manage department staff, including scheduling, approving leave, and improving processes.
- Provide support for servicing, underwriting, processing, funding, and closing as needed.
- Lead and coach employees to meet or exceed performance expectations; provide written documentation and recommend resources or disciplinary actions for underperformance.
- Write, update, and conduct performance reviews for staff, including monthly development progress reviews.
- Ensure team members are adequately trained and cross-trained for versatility and coverage.
- Analyze workflows to determine staffing requirements and oversee schedules for full-time and part-time employees.
- Foster teamwork within the real estate department to enhance member relationships and achieve branch goals.
- Participate in and apply basic project management principles.
- Identify additional member needs and recommend appropriate Credit Union solutions.
- Maintain the Credit Union’s professional reputation during all business-related transactions.
- Assist with audits, exams, and resolving findings or issues.
- Engage in networking opportunities for personal, professional, and organizational growth.
- Regularly review and update procedures and standards to improve the member experience.
- Attend educational opportunities, preparing and implementing ideas from those sessions.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to move or transport items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to remain stationary for 2-4 hours at a time.
Work Environment
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Routinely clean and disinfect workspaces, including teller stations, desks, and electronic equipment.
- Protect confidentiality by securing sensitive materials when away from the workstation.
Education and Experience
- Three to five years of leadership experience, particularly in Real Estate Lending.
- A two-year college degree or completion of specialized certification or licensing.
- Working knowledge of regulations affecting mortgage lending.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
