Positions Location: Charlotte, MI
General Purpose of Job:
Performs a variety of tasks involved in the cleaning of patient rooms, staff work areas, and common areas.
Essential Duties:
- Selects cleaning materials and supplies from designated area and transports to work area.
- Cleans and disinfects assigned patient rooms, staff work areas, and common areas. Duties include, but are not limited to, dusting furniture, sweeping/mopping floors, vacuuming rugs, removing trash and soiled linens, changing linens, cleaning fixtures, and washing windows.
- Washes and polishes sinks, showers, mirrors, and similar fixtures/equipment. Replenishes supplies of soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other dispensable items.
- Stocks and delivers linens to designated areas.
- Notifies supervisor of needed repairs.
- Keeps equipment, supplies and cart in a clean and orderly condition.
- Shampoos carpets as directed.
- Strips, waxes and polishes floors as directed.
- Identifies cause and determines method of removing stains from floors, carpets and furniture using a variety of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Assumes responsibility for delivering, ordering, and stocking linen to all departments.
- Attends staff meetings and in-service programs.
- Uses PPE as required.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education |
• High school diploma or GED |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
• Knowledge and understanding of general cleaning methods, materials and equipment • Knowledge of regulatory standards and hospital policies applicable to the environmental services function including infection control and safety practices • Ability to read and understand labels and instructions on cleaning solutions and equipment • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate in a pleasant manner with staff, patients and their families, and visitors while performing housekeeping tasks • Physical ability to continuously stand/walk/bend/reach/stoop/kneel/ crouch/lift, remove trash and soiled linens, and properly utilize required equipment • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job |
