Production Scheduler
Job Overview:
The Production Scheduler is responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining production schedules to ensure that manufacturing processes meet customer demand, while minimizing delays and optimizing resources. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with different departments to meet production goals and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Planning, Scheduling, and Shipping:
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and available resources.
- Ensure that production targets are met, while balancing inventory levels, workforce availability, and machine capacity.
- Coordinate with production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and components.
- Adjust schedules as necessary to address unforeseen issues, such as machine breakdowns or material shortages.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule downtime for equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production schedules, completed jobs, and inventory usage. (i.e. GM Supply Power)
- Ensure all shipping documents are completed, including Customs paperwork if going out of the US.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor raw material and finished goods inventory to ensure adequate stock for production.
- Work closely with plant manager to track material lead times and avoid production delays.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with production foreman and human resources, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless workflow and resource allocation.
- Communicate with the customer to ensure orders and delivery requirements are met in a timely manner.
- Provide regular updates on production progress, delays, or issues to management and other departments.
- Process Optimization and Improvement:
- Identify areas of inefficiency in the production process and suggest improvements to optimize the production schedule.
- Implement best practices for scheduling, including the use of production planning software and lean manufacturing principles.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Associates degree in related field.
- Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Prior knowledge of production planning, inventory control, and manufacturing processes preferred
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, to collaborate with other departments.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
