(Student) Athletic Trainer Student Assistant
WORK LOCATION: Grand Rapids - Lettinga Campus
DEPARTMENT: Athletics-Administration
POSITION PAY RANGE: $12.00 - 12.50, Hourly
TARGET HIRING RANGE: Actual pay offered will be commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience, the type of role, pay equity and available funding.
Athletic Trainer Student Assistant
SUMMARY:
The student assistant will work under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer and will help aid in the care of student athletes competing for Davenport University and visiting teams. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Game and practice set up and clean up
• Training room supervision
• Modalities - ultrasound, estim, warm and cold ice baths
• Athletic Training administrative duties
• Assist with coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions.
• Taping and wound care
• Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes.
• Provide GREAT customer service, anticipate and exceed the needs of our customers.
• Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be work study eligible.
• Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours as an undergraduate student or 3 credit hours as a graduate student while meeting the standards of academic progress.
• Excellent interpersonal skills that transcend diverse audiences; communicating to university customers with positive attitudes toward change, confidentiality, and conflict resolution.
• Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University.
• Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
