The Business Consultant is part of the Michigan Small Business Development Center (SBDC), a grant-funded department of the Community Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) division. The SBDC consultant fosters a strong climate for small business growth by providing in-depth, confidential, no-cost business counseling and training seminars to small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs throughout Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties. This position is responsible for a client portfolio of one-to-one consulting primarily advising entrepreneurs in the start-up phases of their business. The consultant must have a broad base of business knowledge, excellent research and analytical skills, be a creative thinker to assist with problem-solving, and have the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously. The consultant must also develop specific and relevant areas of expertise within the arena of business development and apply this knowledge through creation of new training programs, consulting tools, and research projects that are responsive to the needs of the specific business community served. This is an in-person position located at LCC’s main campus.
