Hourly Pay: $15.7621 Hourly
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Student working towards an Associate, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public health, health education, epidemiology or a related field -AND- minimum of 3.0 GPA. Student working towards Master's degree preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess valid Michigan driver's license and vehicle available for use on county business. Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours on weekdays and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform Essential Job Duties and Functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
JOB SUMMARY: Performs broad health education functions in assigned areas of responsibility; works independently under public health supervisor; performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with staff as an active member of the team.
- Assist in providing health education and resources to individuals of the community.
- Assist in collecting health information from community members.
- Participate in outreach events and build relationships with external partners.
- Research available public health data to assist with community health assessments and reports.
- Develop health education materials.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Basic knowledge of health promotion and/or public health.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- Experienced in using Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
- Creativity in problem solving.
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.
