Support surgical case scheduling for Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Schedule OBGYN patients for patients for inpatient and outpatient surgical cases for the following locations/operating rooms: University Hospital, CS Mott Children's Hospital, Brighton Center Specialty Clinic and East Ann Arbor Surgery Center.
- Work with physicians on adherence to surgery scheduling procedures, coordinate preoperative history and physical appointments.
- Provide support to OBGYN physicians by scheduling new, return and postoperative visits for patients, including detailed multiple appointment scheduling.
- Manage phone calls from internal and external customers.
- Schedule pre-op clearance appointments, coordinate with other department schedulers to optimize use of OBGYN service block time at operating rooms across the health system and meet patient and surgeon needs with respect to clinical care and productivity.
- Serve as an advocate for surgeons he/she supports; serve as an advocate for patients and families.
- Enter CPT codes into scheduling system to permit business team's identification of patient financial liability.
- Serve as a representative of the surgery scheduler team/role on various committees, workgroups as needed.
- Develop, along with lead or supervisor and scheduler colleagues, standard work.
- Participate actively in efforts to improve processes that will enhance the experience of internal and external customers (proactively identify opportunities and potential issues).
- This position is located in VonVoigtlander Women's Clinic on the main hospital campus.
- High School Diploma.
- 3-4 years of clerical, experience is required
- Previous experience using Outlook calendars
- Knowledge of medical records and medical terminology.
- Past record of demonstrated excellent attendance.
- Ability to exhibit a professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty and staff.
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills, as well as attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a very busy complex clinical setting.
