The Teacher Education Faculty position at Gogebic Community College will lead the Teacher Education Program at GCC. Successful candidates will be committed to education in the Western Upper Peninsula by providing current and future educators with knowledge, skills, and disposition to meet the challenges of today’s classroom.
This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Services. The salary for this position begins at $55,346.71 on the MAHE BA +30 scale.

Teacher Education Program Overview
The coursework and cooperative experiences in the Associate of Arts Teacher Education Program is designed to develop individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in teaching. Students will develop their own teaching philosophy and practice through immersive in-classroom and practical experiences in partner schools with a semester-long cooperative work experience.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Master’s degree from an accredited university in curriculum & instruction, education, or closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a public school setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience promoting inclusive excellence.
- Collaborative skills that cross departmental and disciplinary boundaries.
- Experience in rural, cross-cultural, or otherwise diverse education settings.
- Familiarity with educational theories of learning and teaching.
- Additionally, the following experiences are preferred:
- Experience teaching at the college/university level, including supervision of pre-service field placements.
- Experience teaching online courses.
- Experience with partnerships between public schools and universities.
- Familiarity with teacher education requirements in Michigan and Wisconsin.
- Knowledge of current state and national standards.
