Plant Manager -
Disher Design & Development is a full-service product development and engineering services firm in West Michigan. Our engineering team is highly technical and diversified, serving in a variety of markets including automotive, office furniture, alternative energy, and medical. Our capabilities span from napkin through launch, providing numerous opportunities for us to partner with clients in product and process development, as well as in Talent identification and attraction.
We are currently partnering with a West Michigan customer in their search for a full time, direct hire Plant Manager.
Responsibilities that will be a part of this position:
- Developing and managing cross-functional operations leadership teams to meet business objectives.
- Retain customer communication and be able to be the primary quality contact once launch is complete for customer satisfaction.
- Constant support of the continuous improvement and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) programs.
- Able to manage the financial aspects of operations and understands the effect on financial performance.
- Keep in constant overview of the appropriate level of staff support necessary to meet business and budgetary goals and objectives on internal and external projects.
- Must be able to develop, maintain, and have constant interaction with business reviews / plans / future goals and being able to adapt to the changing environment.
- Have natural leadership efforts in support of world-class manufacturing practices and lean principles.
Qualifications needed to be successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business is required.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business is preferred.
- 10 years of experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
- 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role is required.
- Automotive industry and electronics manufacturing experience is required.
- Experience working in a union environment is a plus.
- Natural communication skills both verbal and written.
- Experience with problem solving tools (i.e. is/is not, 5 why’s, 4M’s, etc.).
- Advanced problem solving tools would be a plus (i.e. Red X, Greenbelt, etc.).
- Experience dealing with all aspects of a manufacturing operations (Materials, Quality, Maintenance, Facilities, HR, etc.).
- Experience negotiating of solutions that leave various stakeholders feeling that their interests and positions have been understood.
- Professional communication among internal and external customers on a daily basis.
