Summary of Position: | The Architecture and Facility Management Department seeks applications for a part-time, temporary faculty position. Responsibilities involve teaching one or more courses in the following degree programs: AAS in Architectural Technology or BS in Architecture and Sustainability. In addition to the more common topics associated with the degree programs, experience in architectural design, construction detailing and documents utilizing AutoCAD and Revit, digital architectural presentation utilizing software such as Revit, Formit, Autodesk 3DS Max, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, will be considered.
This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis.
Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment.
The anticipated start date of this position is January 2025 at the earliest and August 2025 at the latest. | |

Required Education: | For 100 and 200 level courses: A Bachelor of Science in Architecture. For 300 and 400 level courses: A Bachelor or Master of Architecture, or a Bachelor of Science in Architecture plus a master’s degree in a related field such as building science, design studies, landscape architecture, commensurate with the topic being taught. | |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: | Plan, deliver and grade all course content and student work for assigned courses. Meet established course outcomes. Conduct architecture classes, studios, or other assignments as directed and in a professional manner. Close consultation with program faculty, as well as training via university-provided programs (where appropriate). Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include but are limited to: keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. | |
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: | Attendance at organizational meetings of the program, school or college is highly encouraged. Approved adjuncts who have not received appointment may be asked to provide a minimum of one lecture or lab delivery per academic year as a demonstration of their interest and an opportunity for adjunct faculty development and preparation. | |
