Position Title: Senior Residential Advisor

The Senior Residential Advisor position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-ready technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24.
Summary of Duties: The Senior Residential Advisor provides safe, supportive and predictable environment in dormitory supervision of Job Corps students in their daily activities, monitoring their progress in attaining performance contract goals and objectives and utilizing behavior management strategies. Conducts dormitory operations in accordance to Center operating policy and procedures and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Description of Duties:
- Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.
- Responsible for providing leadership in the social development living areas: Ensures that staff members meet the standards and expectations of the Department of Labor, Corporate and Center policies.
- Ensures the social development/residential living program delivers quality services to the student to ensure their growth and development in all areas of the Career Success Standards.
- Develops and implements training plan for staff.
- Provides and documents staff training. Meets with the Counseling Supervisor to provide feedback.
- Oversees the Center’s operations as the Senior Residential Counselor during the weekends, midnight and other hours that are not managed by a manager or director.
- Creates an environment where positive employment behaviors are the standard for social development through active staff and student supervision.
- Provides support for an active and effective dorm leadership program to include a training program.
- Actively participates in the development and implementation of the continuing education program. ?
- Operates dormitory area, coordinates services, conducts counseling and resolves problems, and assists student in their daily living needs.
- Manage all student incidents to protect all individuals from harm. Ensures that individual meetings with students address issues, express plans to resolve problems.
- Notifies other staff to coordinate services by memo, phone, or personal conversation. These actions are documented in student files. Provides guidance and assistance for daily living in group setting. ?
- Maintains student files and dormitory areas. Student file, including electronic and hard copies, presents an up-to-date history of the services provided to ensure the student is successful in the attainment of both long- and short-term goals. Regular entries are made in dorm logs, and other necessary documents indicate the conditions of dorms during rounds. ?
- Ensures that residences are attractive, clean, safe, and in good repair. Dormitory inspections in assigned areas must meet or exceed expectations consistently.
- Ensures that work orders are completed in a timely manner to ensure all furniture, equipment, etc. is in good repair. Documents relevant information in dorm logs as events occur and transmits the information from each shift to the next. ?
- Provides student with social development program training as well as other Career Success Standards training.
- Develops and implements training to ensure student successful knowledge and application of independent living and Career Success Standards.
- Provides individual and group lessons or project assignments after the training day and on weekends to help student master competencies in all standards with clearly established performance levels for these activities.
- Ensures evaluations (ESP’s) are completed for student at least every 60 days and/or as special evaluations as requested. Ensures that goals are established and implements a plan so that they meet or exceed goals and expectations. ?
- Ensures student accountability: Student accountability information is submitted accurately and within established time frames.
Monitors student accountability to include leaves, attendance and Unauthorized Absence (UA) retrievals. Maintains contact with all student who are in UA status and makes every attempt to retrieve them from this status. ?
