Position: Assistant Real Estate Lending Manager I
Employment Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Real Estate Lending Leader
Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission: To encourage a better tomorrow. Essential Duties
- Through leadership, create a positive, empowering environment for team members to allow for goal success and professional development.
- Recommend procedures and processes that lead to an environment of continuous improvement to the Real Estate Lending Leader.
- Maintain loan procedures for the real estate lending department that are compliant with lending regulations.
- Oversee the department in the absence of the Real Estate Lending Leader.
- Review Quarterly & Annual HMDA data for quarterly scrub and annual submission.
- Attain the Financial Counselor Certification (CCUFC) through CUNA within the first 12 months.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by this position. Additional duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Align individual team member performance goals with the Credit Union’s strategic plan.
- Manage department staff; allocate resources to meet operational needs, including scheduling, approving leave, and process improvement.
- Provide support in assisting the team with coverage for servicing, underwriting, processing, funding, and closing as needed.
- Lead and coach employees to meet or exceed performance expectations. Address inadequate performance through documentation and recommend training or disciplinary action to the Real Estate Lending Leader.
- Write, update, and conduct performance summaries for department staff, including monthly development progress reviews.
- Ensure team members are trained and cross-trained in related positions, emphasizing Credit Union culture, mission, and core values during onboarding.
- Analyze workflow on an ongoing basis to determine staffing requirements. Oversee work schedules to ensure proper member service.
- Foster teamwork within the real estate team to deepen member relationships and achieve branch goals.
- Utilize modest project management principles and participate in projects as needed.
- Create opportunities for expanded member relationships by determining needs for additional products and services; recommend appropriate Credit Union solutions.
- Maintain the Credit Union’s professional reputation in real estate lending and business-related transactions.
- Assist the Real Estate Lending Leader with reviewing exams/findings and resolving outstanding issues.
- Seek networking opportunities inside and outside the industry for personal, professional, and Credit Union development.
- Update procedures and standards to elevate member experience, ensuring periodic reviews for effectiveness and compliance.
- Attend educational opportunities and meetings as required; prepare pre- and post-write-ups on educational experiences and ideas for implementation.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to move or transport up to 25 pounds.
- Able to remain stationary for 2-4 hours at a time.

- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Routinely clean and disinfect work areas, including teller stations, desk surfaces, phones, and electronic equipment.
- Protect confidentiality by securing sensitive materials when away from the workstation.
Education and Experience
- Three to five years of experience in a leadership role focusing on real estate lending.
- A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized certification or licensing.
- Working knowledge of regulations affecting mortgage lending.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
