Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides technical support. Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions.
Unit Position Summary
- Participate interactively in rapid design cycles for scientific instrument development, including communication with scientists and engineers.
- Develop and produce components for prototypes. Using additive manufacturing (3D printing) and related tools.
- Perform quality control and testing of devices
- Actively collaborative with scientists and outdoor research teams to ensure rapid development cycles.
Responsibilities
- 3D printing and post-processing parts
- Create 3D models for demonstration
- Assembly of 3D-printed parts with optics and printed circuit boards
- Data analysis, record keeping and progress report presentation
Desired Qualifications
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience with assembly testing and repair of photosynthesis measuring instruments
- 3D Printing
- Proficient with the use of basic hand tools, soldering and soldering rework
- Experience in CAD software (Fusion 360, FreeCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
- Basic knowledge of safety and personal protection equipment for powered tools
- Basic skills in programming (C++, R, python)
- Experience with Electrical engineering
