JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the management of small to medium sized Information Technology projects authorized by the company using the standard Project Management Office (PMO) methodology. May be required to facilitate approval process and prioritization for incoming project requests. May be required to manage some or all facets of the project lifecycle, from project initiation through project closure. Provides the detailed project management discipline required to maximize performance on individual projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitates project initiation and estimation process; includes the completion of requirements gathering, defining a solution and creation of a business case.
Completes facilitation and definition of estimates for project requests.
Understands the business requests for projects sufficiently to communicate the importance of projects to the technology teams, as well as to understand the technology sufficiently to communicate the complexity of projects in terms for the business.
Acts as liaison between PMO and project requestors.
Acts as leader for cross functional project teams utilizing sound judgment.
Gains knowledge of and understands the requirements of project requestors.
Evaluates and selects best solutions for project requests.
Gains understanding of business strategies. Works to build a strong alignment between IT and the business.
Works to provide a seamless transition from project request to project execution.
Follows a framework for prioritizing and selecting projects and recommends improvements as needed
Manages day-to-day tasks for assigned projects, creates project deliverables, completes project accounting and reporting and provides coordination with all internal and external stakeholders.
Communicates project status, issues, risks and tasks to project team and stakeholders in an effective and appropriate manner.
Identifies project resource requirements, project plans and project schedules.
Works well with personnel from all areas of the company to ensure performance of project objectives.
Manages, resolves or escalates any problems or issues that may arise.
Follows all corporate security, policies and methods.
Completes project documents making sure they are current and saved appropriately.
May be called upon to present/explain final project costs to IT Governance Committee.
Works to build and maintain relationships with internal technology teams.
Assist in relationships with vendors. Provide input to Statements of Work, communicate effectively with project vendors in resolving any issues regarding fulfillment of obligations
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related technical area; or Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years within an Information Technology environment or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Project Management.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Project Management Institute (PMI) is required.
Some experience in coordinating, negotiating and motivating outside vendors to ensure project deadlines are met.
Experience with creating business cases to support project approval.
Ability to work with functional management groups and executives directly.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications and Microsoft Project
Ability to function effectively throughout all levels of the company (i.e. within and across organization).
Displays a solid understanding of the day-to-day execution of business and the IT environments.
Possesses good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Possesses the ability to write clear, comprehensive business documents.
Ability to work on multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously.
Ability to pay attention to detail and display a sense of urgency.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Communicates effectively at all levels within the organization.
Experience with PPM systems preferred.
Experience in project selection preferred.
