As an Engineering Technician 2 - Paint, you'll provide engineering support and documentation for the creation, modification, and maintenance of nonstandard products.

What You'll Do
You'll have opportunities to speak up, solve problems, lead others, and be an owner every day as you . . .
Create and modify Bills of Material (BOMs) in the Herman Miller Operating System. You must also know the implications of modifying BOM structure.
Design and modify parts to meet customer needs within the material specifications of the part/product.
Function in PC-based computer systems.
Read and understand routings.
Read, create, and modify drawings to support products requested by the customer.
Understand BOM codes such as inventory codes, P/C codes, unit of measure, etc.
Gain a high degree of Herman Miller product knowledge.
Make decisions based on sound engineering principles.
Work cross-functionally with people from Purchasing, Manufacturing, Applications, CAD, and Order Administration.
Work with a detail-oriented mind set to ensure the accuracy of information delivered.
Perform in a team environment to ensure all work is completed 100% on-time.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
Support all facets of application room technical needs, improvements, and operations.
Support engineering needs for continuous improvement of the coatings value stream.
Guide application room staff in all facets of technical improvements including NCMs, maintenance, cost reductions.
Shepherd hands-on experiments and document test methods and results.
Work with powder application processes and equipment.
Solve problems and product issues.
Develop a working knowledge and understanding of the washers, both the chemistry and equipment including ability to perform titrations, pH checks, understand what to look for and how to adjust.Be able to back up the washer tech.
Experienced with Excel.
Perform testing and documentation on powder including transfer efficiency.
Be able to design and modify parts to meet customer need within the material specifications of the part/product.
Be able to function in PC based computer systems.
Performs physical and technical tasks including measuring, calibrating, testing, documenting. Utilizes skill and experience, may adapt procedures to meet special needs.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have . . .
Two to four years of experience in an engineering environment or as an Engineering Technician 1.
Experience with PC-based computer systems and a familiarity with standard programs such as Excel and Word.
The ability to apply basic engineering procedures and practices.
The ability to work to deadlines and completions.
The ability to manage your own workload and be self-motivated.
Team player skills.
Mechanical aptitude to develop solutions to customer requests.
The ability to work under direct supervision.
The ability to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodations.
Hands-on and have a mechanical aptitude.
Good people skills to lead staff that don't directly report to you.
Excel spreadsheets
Creating process instructions and documentation.
Good observational skills, ability to follow defined procedures, and attention to detail are required to ensure tests are done properly.
Ability to evaluate data to identify possible inconsistencies that may indicate retesting is required.
Willingness to ask questions and seek help if needed.
