Position: ACCOUNTANT III/SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Controller

Essential Duties
- Deliver on the Credit Union’s promises in every service situation.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all functions of the Accounting/Finance department to assist and provide back-up as needed.
- Proficient in various accounting software programs.
- Complete routine tasks within the accounting department efficiently and accurately.
- Mentor Accounting team members, providing guidance to support their professional growth.
- Collaborate and train effectively through virtual collaboration tools.
- Perform General Ledger reconciliations, create and post journal entries, and assist with monthly financial and regulatory reporting.
- Support the Controller in various key reporting tasks, including creating valuable data reports through analytical tools.
Duties and Responsibilities
This list reflects the primary duties of this position and is not exhaustive. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support business goals.
- Conduct daily accounting functions independently and provide leadership to the Accounting team.
- Assist the Controller in mentoring the Accounting team and ensuring adherence to GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting processes.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other schedules.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy, including mapping, balancing, and reporting.
- Complete and file quarterly 5300 reports with the NCUA.
- Support external examiners and auditors as needed.
- Lead analytical projects and assist branches and departments with accounting tasks.
- Support financial management by maintaining accurate accounting records and reports.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to move or transport up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to remain stationary for 2-4 hours at a time.
Work Environment
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Regularly clean and disinfect workspaces.
- Ensure confidentiality by securing sensitive information when away from the workstation.
Education and Experience
- Experience Required: 5-8 years of relevant experience in the financial industry.
- Education: Minimum of a two-year accounting-related college degree or equivalent certifications/training.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook. Familiarity with Host software (Symitar) is preferred.
- Knowledge: Understanding of GAAP and regulatory requirements for financial institutions.
